Description

The Bubble Nebula NGC7635 is an emission nebula 6 light-years across and located 7,000 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind of a massive, hot, young star near a giant cloud of molecules. Its expansion speed is 7 million km/h! The central star is about 4 million years old and will likely explode as a supernova in 10 to 20 million years. The photo was taken with the help of narrowband filters in the same color scheme used by the Hubble Space Telescope!
